five faves friday

Oh, sweet blessed Friday! I have been looking forward to today for weeks, I tell you. I fully plan to spend tomorrow morning hanging my washing on the line, having a leisurely cup of coffee, and rubbing my kitten's very floofy belly. There's something oddly satisfying about seeing all those clean clothes blowing in the breeze at 9 AM.

And if you're wondering why I'll be up at 9 AM on my first Saturday off in a month, it's because of said kitten and his floofy belly. He's under the impression that belly rubs simply must be had once it hits 6:30 in the morning. I'd tell him this is not the case but by that time he's usually all snuggled up and purring, and if you'd have the heart to tell him no at that point you must have a heart of stone.

ANYWAYYYY on to my favorites from this week!

+ This fabulous happy balloon, that is clearly made for birthday party Instagrams (hint hint)

from StephShivesStudio, found here on Etsy

+ Early morning texts with fabulous friends on the nightshift back home. The time difference isn't huge but it can make communicating so awkward - hi, hello, it's midnight for me and I am trying to sleep - so it was lovely to have a proper conversation with an old friend on my way into the office.

+ We're thinking of getting a new bed, and I'm loving the look of this one. We bought a king bed when we moved into our house last September but the truth is, it's just too big for our room. I like something that's neutral enough for me to change the color scheme when I get bored (read: every three months) but not so neutral as to be boring. What do you think?

+ This adorable lawn game. It's so cute and kitschy, plus it would be perfect for the joint birthday bonanza we're throwing at the end of August. Anyone want to mail me a few plastic flamingos? Nothing says Floridian like neon plastic flamingos.

Original post and DIY found here, from Sugar & Cloth

+ Kind colleagues who have swapped my 10-6 shift today for an 8-4. Getting up at 5:30 is never fun, but leaving the office at 4 on a Friday is 100% worth it.

And with that, folks, I will leave you to enjoy your weekend! I'll see you back here on Monday morning. :)
