adventures in london {part one}.

If you ask me, there isn't a better way to celebrate turning 25 than a tromp through London and Amsterdam with your favorite people.

So it was off to London I went, meeting my best friend in the airport for a weekend adventure. No matter how many times I fly, I still love taking photos out the plane window. I'm one of those people who could spend the whole flight with my face smushed against the window, staring at the world out below.

Once I'd located said best friend in the airport, we dropped our bags off in our hostel and headed to Kensington Palace. Thanks to the tip of a good friend and fellow traveler, we'd invested in the London Pass, which got us in to loads of sites with one fee.

I think the weirdest part of Kensington Palace was the knowledge that people actually live there. It must be so odd for them to have people constantly walking through your house!

This is one of Queen Elizabeth's gowns, as part of an exhibition on fashion and the royals.

I'd booked us in for afternoon tea at the Park Terrace for afterward, because what's a girls' weekend without tea and lots of cake?

It came with a free Pimm's, too, which just made it that much better. I wish I'd taken more pictures of the fabulous sandwiches and cakes, but I was too busy stuffing my face with them.

We went for a nice little lie-down after our tea to relax. Christine had only gotten in that morning from the States, and I'd been up early to catch a flight from Glasgow so a rest was definitely in order. Our next stop was the V&A, which has late hours on Friday nights (huzzah for museums!).

The V&A closes a lot of the exhibits with it being after hours, but it's definitely still worth a wander.

We rounded off our evening by meeting up with a friend from my Master's program who's living the student life again in London. It's so nice getting to see old friends in new cities. And this busy day was both only the first and way more laidback than our next few days! But luckily when you're traveling with your best friend, it's just so much fun being together than hoofing it through hordes of people hardly even fazes you.

 xoxo
