blog everyday in may: day one

Happy Friday, friends! I'm sure y'all are just as excited about the weekend as I am. :)

This month I'm joining in with Belinda from Found Love, Now What for her Blog Everyday in May challenged. I definitely needed a jumpstart to refresh my writing mojo, and this link-up seems like the perfect way to do it! Today's prompt is pretty simple: Introduce Yourself. Here goes!

Hi, I'm Mary Elisabeth! I was born and raised in Orlando, FL but now I live in Glasgow, Scotland. I moved here in 2012 to do my Master's in Museum Studies and met my now-husband two weeks later. We were married last summer here in Scotland.

Here are five little things about me:

1. I'm a major nerd, particularly in terms of history and literature. When I was 8, I had an obsession with czarist Russia, followed by the Salem witch trials. Normal child I was not.

2. I love animals. Sometimes I drag my husband into the Kelvingrove Park just to puppy-watch. We plan on having a corgi, a lab, and a husky as pets someday.

3. I'm a serial crafter. Sewing, drawing, embroidering, painting, name it, I'll do it. And probably cover it in glitter before I'm done.

4. I spent all my school years reading books under my desk instead of paying attention. This means I am really really really awful at math, but very good at the reading side of things. (It's really lucky I married someone good at math.)

5. My favorite alcoholic drink is whiskey and ginger ale. Or just whiskey on its own, really. ;) I definitely moved to the right country for that!

Hopefully you know me a little bit better now. Say hi or tell me something about yourself in the comments--I'd like to know you better, too! If you'd like to join in on Belinda's link-up, click the button below. :)

Found Love. Now What?

  1. Yes to all 5! Well, except maybe 3. I tend to pour my creative energy into cooking these days, and I love glitter, but why must it always get everywhere?
Adorable wedding photo! You two are a gorgeous couple.

  2. Cooking is great, too! Glitter does get everywhere, but I think it's worth it. And thanks! :)

  3. I loved history as a kid too! I was obsessed with the Civil War, ancient Rome, and Greek mythology. Still am! My husband and I love to puppy watch. We can't wait to move to a house that accepts pets.

    1. Aw man, the Civil War is one of my favorite historic periods. It's just so fascinating! We're getting a little kitten later this year, but a puppy will have to wait until we have a yard. Apartment living is tough!

  4. I was the same as a kid being into really weird stuff that no other kid was like seeing how long it took different candy to dissolve in water!

    1. haha I'm pretty sure I spent a weekend trying to blow bubbles through a pair of those trying on socks you get at shoe stores. I used all different kinds of soapy liquids. There was an "experiment" journal... Nice to know I'm not alone in my oddities!

  5. It's so great to meet you! I'm moving to Glasgow this September with my boyfriend, and I found your blog while trying to do research on the city. I'm doing my Master's in Technical Art History at the University of Glasgow, so I'm so happy I've found someone with so much in common! We're coming from the US as well, and let's just say I'll be reading through your whole blog in preparation! xx

    1. Hi, hello, welcome to the blog! Congratulations on your upcoming move/degree! Glasgow is such an amazing city and I hope you love it as much as I do. :) If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email! I know there's not a lot of information out there about moving over here, so I'm happy to help where I can. So glad you dropped by! xx

    2. Thank you so much, I will definitely be taking you up on that offer. You're right, there's so little information about this kind of move, so I'm so appreciative for any guidance you could offer! xx

Thanks for taking the time to comment! It's well and truly appreciated. :)
