A wee Highland adventure...part II.

Let's see if I can remember where I left off yesterday...ah, yes! Our Highland adventure continues!

Andi, myself, and Jenn after our mini snowball fight. And right before our tour guide lobbed some snow at us.

Glencoe.

I sure was glad I wore my boots!

Our next stop on the tour was the famous Loch Ness. When I first found out last year that I'd be coming to Scotland, my friend Luke gave me one mission: go to Loch Ness and find Nessie. Sadly, I have yet to complete the second part of my mission, but to be fair, Nessie is probably a little people-shy.

Nessie or no, Loch Ness is beautiful. And HUGE. After our quick stop to take these pictures, we traveled up the side of Loch Ness so that some of our fellow travelers (who had booked boat tours on the loch) could take their trips. Considering that it had been raining for most of the morning, when Neil offered the option of a boat tour, the girls and I looked at each other with looks of, "Oh, please, NO."

A view of Urquhart Castle.

We decided to take a little trail up the hills instead, which was fun but also dangerous. Rain + dirt + uphill= almost dying several times.

The view was totally worth it.

Not only was the temperature lower by the loch, but look! WE SAW SUNLIGHT. I'd been starting to think that the sun was a mythical being we invented. I think it's the first time I've seen sunlight in months.
The driving through this part of our trip was a wee bit treacherous. Two fellow travelers had some struggles with the twists and turns, and I can't say I was completely immune to them myself. Luckily, we got plenty of coffee stops and opportunities to get up and stretch our legs. It was a long day of travel, but we had a really great time.

We spent our New Year's Eve (Hogmanay) out at the local pub and the bar our friend Alyssa works for. Most of the pictures we took are on Boyfriend's camera, so it'll be a while longer until I can snag them because he doesn't have a computer. Don't ask me how he lives without one--I haven't a clue.

We may have been the only people dressed up on New Year's Eve, but by golly, we were the best dressed. Also, please ignore the ghostly tint to my skin in the above photo. Remember when I said I haven't seen sunlight in months? Yeah.

Classes start on Monday. Sigh. I've been enjoying my weeks of freedom. I don't feel ready to get back to school yet...but this paper is due on Friday, so I guess I should get to it. Wish me luck!

xo,
