Christmas Tree Decorating Party

Sorry I've been absent, but I've been (and continue to be) in the land of paper writing hell. And here I thought postgrads didn't have to do work for their degrees! Seeing as I've hardly gone out into the world in the last week, I don't have much to review. That is, unless you'd like a review of Exhibiting Cultures or The New Museology. Yeah, that's how I feel about them, too. Instead, I offer for your consumption lots of pictures and party times.

In the grand tradition of being the Christmas elf around here, I decided that I would host a Christmas tree decorating party. I baked a zillion cookies, bought a tree, went a little nuts in the Ikea decorating section, and sent out the invites.

I wish I'd gotten a picture of all the cookies when they were done--there were so many more!

Boyfriend had never tried snickerdoodles before. What a sad, sad life he's had until I came along with fried chicken, sloppy joes, and snickerdoodles.

Boyfriend also made some origami for the party. I am obliged to tell you that this creature is not a bull. Or a goat. Or that creature from "The Impossible Planet." It is a reindeer. (Please nod knowingly.)

Boyfriend and Alyssa created this masterpiece. It was Boyfriend's idea to cut out the gingerbread Santa and attach it to the chimney. He was quite proud of it.

My flatmates and Sam.

Group photo!

Did I mention that I'm dating a giant? He's not even standing up straight here.

The Christmas jumpers brought joy to everyone.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

I may or may not have forced them to buy those jumpers. But look how awesome they are!

My flatmate, Theo, in the best picture ever.

Boyfriend even brought me a present: an "I heart Scotland" ornament. :)

Two of my favorite people!

Don't ask me what's going on here. I don't even want to know. My friends are insane, and that is why I love them.

A toast to Christmas!

So there you have it, folks. The keys to a good party are cookies, wine, sparkles, and great friends.

xo,

Exactly like that.
